Truth Samuels

As a sophomore from St.Louis, Missouri, I am currently competing in the junior hunters and National Hunter Derbies. I train with Shannon Hicks where I have qualified for Junior Hunter Finals and am currently top 5 in Zone 7 for the Younger Large 3'3" Junior Hunters.  

 

From starting the 3'3" hunters a little over a year ago, I have consistently placed in the top 5 of my hunter classes as well as received multiple top 12 National Hunter Derby finishes. Recently, I have been back to back champion or reserve champion at various venues in the junior hunters. My most proud accomplishment is placing 3rd in a National Hunter Derby against professionals and other juniors and amateurs. My goal for 2025 is to compete at Junior Hunter Finals and hopefully finish at the top of some of the classes.

In addition to equestrian, I am also on the varsity wrestling team for my school where I compete in the lightweight bracket. I enjoy wrestling as I believe it keeps me in great shape for riding and I have to be very disciplined which I feel has carried over into my riding.

 

I am currently pursuing my academics at Liberty High School. I've been active in clubs like FCA, BETA, and KEY club. Additionally, I volunteer at Tree House of Greater St.Louis helping individuals and their families through equine therapeutics.

Between academic pursuits, varsity wrestling and equestrian commitments, I'm passionate about elevating both my scholarly and riding skills, aiming to combine them as I venture into college.
